Pavlodar Regional Art Museum
The Pavlodar Regional Art Museum was founded in 1965 in the city of Pavlodar in northeastern Kazakhstan and today mounts more than fifteen exhibitions a year. Its permanent collection centers on works by leading Kazakhstani painters, including Nikolai Khludov, Abylkhan Kasteev, Aisha Galimbaeva, Gulfairus Ismailova, and Leonid Leontyev, giving visitors an overview of the development of Kazakh fine art through the twentieth century. The museum also holds pieces donated from Moscow's Tretyakov Gallery, among them etchings by Valentin Serov and watercolors by Nikolai Karazin. A notable part of the collection is devoted to the Russian landscape painter Viktor Baturin, who lived and worked in Pavlodar between 1919 and 1929 and left a significant body of work connected to the region. Alongside its permanent displays, the museum regularly hosts touring exhibitions from other Kazakhstani institutions, solo shows by local artists, photography exhibits, and children's art projects.
