Pick Szalámi és Szegedi Paprika Múzeum
The Pick Salami and Szeged Paprika Museum opened in Szeged in 1999 as a brand museum run by the Pick Szeged meat company, dedicated to the city's two best-known culinary exports: Pick's winter salami and Szeged's distinctive paprika. Housed on the Felső-Tisza embankment, it drew roughly seven to eight thousand visitors a year, walking them through the traditional curing and smoking methods behind Pick's salami, a product with roots going back some 150 years, alongside displays on the cultivation and processing of Szeged paprika. The physical exhibition closed in 2018, but the company has continued the museum concept in digital form, offering a virtual museum experience with 360-degree video and augmented- and virtual-reality content exploring the "secrets" of Pick winter salami through a mobile app. The institution illustrates how a single regional food product became closely tied to Szeged's civic identity and tourism offer.
