Selçuk Hatun Mosque
Selçuk Hatun Mosque in Bursa was built in 1450 on the order of Selçuk Hatun, a daughter of Sultan Çelebi Mehmed I, as recorded in an inscription panel in sülüs calligraphy above its entrance door. Selçuk Hatun was born around 1407 in Merzifon and died in Bursa in 1485. The mosque's square prayer hall measures approximately 8.8 by 8.8 meters, preceded by a portico for latecomers about 3.1 meters deep, while its minaret rises from the northwestern corner of the building. At the western corner of the surrounding courtyard wall stands a two-sided stone-and-brick drinking fountain. The mosque has been repaired numerous times over the centuries, with recorded renovations in 1568, 1762, the 1860s, 1966, and most recently 2014, reflecting its continuous use as a neighborhood place of worship since the mid-15th century.
