The Strázsa-hegyi Délretárt-hole is a cave located in the Pilis Mountains within the Danube–Ipoly National Park, on Nagy-Strázsa Hill.

Description

The cave is situated on the Danube side of Nagy-Strázsa Hill (Strázsa Hill) in the Esztergom-Kertváros district. The entrance to the Strázsa-hegyi Délretárt-hole is about 15 m east of the Strázsa cave, 4 m below its ground level, at the end of a grassy ledge. The 7 m long and 1 m deep cave has been enlarged by digging, but it remains very narrow, making the endpoint somewhat difficult to reach. It is a Triassic limestone cave with a plum seed cross‑section, traversable without permission using basic caving equipment.

Research history

On 29 May 1997 József Regős surveyed the cave, and on 1 June 1997, based on the survey, Sándor Kraus prepared the cave plan map and cross‑section map. Both maps present the cave at a scale of 1:50. The plan map shows the location of the cross‑section within the cave. On 29 May 1997 Sándor Kraus drew a site plan depicting the geographic locations of the caves of Kis‑Strázsa Hill, Középső‑Strázsa Hill and Nagy‑Strázsa Hill. The plan shows the geographic location of the Strázsa-hegyi Délretárt-hole marked as Délretárt. Kraus’s 1997 report states that the previously unknown Strázsa-hegyi Délretárt-hole received its map in 1997. The report includes the site plan drawn in 1997.
