Sultan Divani Mevlevi Lodge Museum
Sultan Divani Mevlevi Lodge Museum, formerly known as the Afyonkarahisar Mevlevi Lodge, is an old Mevlevi lodge located in the province of Afyonkarahisar, Turkey. It currently serves as a museum.
In 1316, Ulu Arif Çelebi arrived in Afyonkarahisar and established a tekke here to spread Mevlevism. Over time it became unusable many times, but it was subjected to renovations. It was damaged by fire in 1902 and rebuilt in 1908. It was closed by the law on the closure of tekkes, zawiyas, and tombs that came into force on 30 November 1925. In 2007 the dervish rooms section was restored and on 30 December 2008 it was opened to visitors as a museum. The tradition of the "40 Hatimli Healing Ashure" first began at the Afyonkarahisar Mevlevi Lodge during the time of Divane Mehmed Çelebi and spread from there to many Mevlevi lodges. Today it is the only Mevlevi lodge that continues this tradition.
