Taşköprü Mosque stands in Bayramiç, a district of Çanakkale province, taking its name from the old stone bridge (taş köprü) built in front of it. The mosque is remembered above all for its connection to the imam who served there, the father of Mehmet Akif Ersoy, the poet who later wrote Turkey's national anthem. Mehmet Akif spent part of his early childhood in Bayramiç while his father held this post, and the family's eventual move to Istanbul followed his father's transfer away from the mosque. The building and its adjoining stone bridge remain a point of local historical interest in Bayramiç, tied to the formative years of one of modern Turkey's most significant literary figures before his family's relocation to the capital.
