Yakutiye Mosque stands in the center of Bayburt, a city in Turkey's Black Sea highlands, and was completed in 1915 through a building effort organized by the local community rather than by a single patron. It is counted among the better-preserved examples of late Ottoman-period mosque architecture in Bayburt, built in the years just before the Ottoman Empire's collapse. The mosque is one of several historic places of worship clustered in Bayburt's old city center, alongside the much older Seljuk-era Ulu Mosque and other neighborhood mosques such as Tuzcuzade and Zahit. Its construction reflects how, even in a modest provincial town far from the imperial capital, local residents continued to invest in religious architecture into the early twentieth century. Today it remains an active mosque serving the surrounding Bayburt neighborhood.
