Zazadin Hanı
Zazadin Hanı, located near the Selçuklu district of Konya, is a 13th‑century Anatolian Seljuk caravanserai. The han lies on the Konya‑Aksaray road, about 22 kilometres from the city centre.
The han was commissioned between 1235 and 1236 by Sadeddin Köpek, one of the officials of I. Alaeddin Keykubad and II. Gıyaseddin Keyhüsrev. The inscription at the entrance of the han documents that the building was completed definitively in 1236.
With a rectangular plan, Zazadin Hanı is built of cut stone and consists of two main parts: a summer section (an open courtyard) and a winter section (a covered area). The courtyard is surrounded by arcades and the façades display typical Seljuk stonework and decorations. The main gate stands out for its monumental dimensions and stone carving. Signs that the han was built for defensive purposes can be seen in its castle‑like curtain walls and corner towers.
The building is regarded as one of the important examples in Anatolia of Seljuk stonework, monumental portal architecture, and functional interior organization. In 2017 it underwent extensive restoration by the Seljuk Municipality and was reopened to visitors.
