Ziribári No 2 Cave
The Ziribári No 2 Cave is one of the caves located in the Pilis Mountains within the Danube–Ipoly National Park.
Description
The cave entrance is at the foot of a rock wall, on the slope of the Ziribár ridge, 60 m east‑north‑east of the main peak of Ziribár, to the right of the ridge trail (running from Csobánka to Pilisszántó) that runs along the Ziribár ridge. A insignificant 4 m long stone niche opened below the karst water level. The cave contains no noteworthy amount of formations. Its floor is thickly covered with loam. Rock debris is also found on the floor, part of which has fallen from the cave ceiling. The cave, which can be visited without a permit, is traversable without basic caving equipment.
In 1997 the cave was mentioned for the first time under the name Ziribári No 2 Cave on a map drawn by László Sásdi.
Research history
It was published in the 1948 Hydrological Gazette that the karst water level descended in Hosszú‑hegy with the emergence of Hosszú‑hegy and the source series of the Ziribári, Hosszúhegyi, Pilisszántói and Szurdokvölgyi caves ceased to function. On 27 April 1997 László Sásdi and Richárd Kovács surveyed the cave. Based on the survey László Sásdi prepared a 1:100 scale plan map and a longitudinal section map.
In the 2011 manuscript of Adrienn Szokol there is a site drawing showing the geographic locations of the caves in the cadastral area 4830. The drawing marks the geographic location of the cave. The Ziribári No 2 Cave opens on Ziribári Hill at an elevation of 387 m above sea level. In the 3.8 m long and 1 m vertically extending cave there is a stalactite.
