Akbeşe Sultan Mescidi
Akşebe Sultan Mescidi is a historic prayer house in Alanya district of Antalya province, dating from the Seljuk Dynasty period.
Akşebe Sultan Mescidi is located inside Alanya Castle, west of the Bedesten, about 100 meters forward of the Süleymaniye Mosque. It was commissioned in 1230 by Akşebe Sultan, the first commander of Alanya Castle under I. Alaeddin Keykubad. Its exterior is cut stone, while the interior and dome are built of brick. It has a square plan and consists of two rooms. One room is the prayer house, the other is the tomb containing Akşebe Sultan's grave. The tomb also contains three additional graves. From the old remains it is understood that the apse of the prayer house was tiled.
His book states, "God knows the unseen of the earth and the heavens. Only those who believe in Him and the Day of Resurrection build Allah's prayer houses. In the year 1230, during the days of the great Sultan Alaaddin, the weak servant Akşebe, in need of God's mercy, had it built." A few meters from the prayer house there is a cylindrical minaret with a brick body standing on a rubble stone base. The minaret, which ends in a balcony, has an interesting appearance.
