Alanya Shipyard and Alanya Arsenal are historic structures remaining from Alanya's Seljuk period.

Six years after the Anatolian Seljuk Sultan I. Alaeddin Keykubad captured the city, construction began near the Red Tower in 1228 and was completed in one year. The shipyard, consisting of five bays with arches, has a sea‑facing façade 56.5 meters long and a depth of 44 meters. The site chosen for the shipyard was planned to make the most use of daylight. The inscription on the entrance gate of the shipyard bears Sultan Keykubad's coat of arms and is decorated with rosettes.

Alanya Shipyard is the first Seljuk shipyard in the Mediterranean. Previously, Alaaddin Keykubad had built the Sinop Shipyard on the Black Sea, and with Alanya Shipyard he received the title "sultan of two seas". On one side of the shipyard there is a prayer room and on the other a guard room. One of the bays also contains a well that has become dry over time. Access to the shipyard, which can be reached by boat from the sea or on foot from the walls next to the Red Tower, is free.

Arsenal

Adjacent to the shipyard, on a rock 10 meters high above the sea, there is an Arsenal built to protect the shipyard. Constructed in 1228 from cut stone, the three‑storey rectangular building is also known to have been used for casting cannons for warships.

Work is ongoing to convert the Shipyard and Arsenal into a Maritime Museum by the Ministry of Culture and the Alanya Municipality.
