Alemdar Mosque stands in the Muştakbaba neighborhood of Bitlis, in eastern Turkey, set beside one of the small streams that run through the old town. The mosque complex is known locally for housing the tomb of Feyzullah El Ensari, giving it a role as both a place of worship and a site of local religious memory. Its minaret and structure have been the subject of academic restoration research, including a paper on the mosque's repair presented at an international symposium on the Lake Van basin. Like several other historic mosques in Bitlis, Alemdar has required ongoing maintenance over the years, with local residents at times petitioning heritage authorities over masonry in need of repair. It remains an active neighborhood mosque and one of the picturesque historic sites along Bitlis's streamside streets.
