The Rahmi M. Koç Museum in Ayvalık occupies a former olive oil factory that is roughly two centuries old, one of the town's significant surviving pieces of industrial heritage architecture. The building was acquired and restored while its original factory character was preserved, reopening to the public as a museum on 19 January 2024. Like its sister institutions in Istanbul and İzmir, it is devoted to the history of transport, industry, and communication in Turkey, displaying the kind of mechanical and everyday objects associated with the wider Koç museum collection. Its ground floor houses classic automobiles, motorcycles, and strollers alongside steam engine models, while the upper floor is given over to model locomotives, antique toys, and maritime-themed exhibits, with a smaller selection of archaeological pieces also on view. The museum complements its exhibits with a seaside café and restaurant, making the old factory building a combined heritage and leisure destination on the Ayvalık waterfront.
