Hoca Taşkın Mosque
Hoca Taşkın Mosque is a modest early Ottoman neighborhood mosque in Bursa, distinguished by a dome resting on an octagonal drum carried on pendentives. Its entrance is preceded by a portico for latecomers measuring about 3.6 by 10 meters, formed of three bays with pointed arches, one of which incorporates a characteristic "Bursa arch" nested within the main pointed arch, a decorative device common to the city's Ottoman mosques. The entrance facade is topped by a triangular gable wall, another recurring feature of Bursa's historic mosque architecture. Inside, the mihrab niche is framed by seven tiers of stalactite (muqarnas) carving and has a five-sided plan with corner columns. The minaret, attached at the northwest corner of the prayer hall, is built of rubble stone interspersed with brick courses on an octagonal base. The mosque underwent renovation in the second half of the 19th century and again in the 1950s.
