Bayezid Paşa Medresesi
Bayezid Paşa Medresesi is a madrasa in the Yıldırım district of Bursa. It was commissioned by someone on behalf of Bayezid Paşa or in the name of Bayezid Paşa during the period between 1413 and 1421. After 1934 only a part of a façade wall remained standing, and after restoration and reconstruction works between 2014 and 2016 it was transformed into an education and culture center.
History
Since the endowment of Bayezid Paşa or his foundation has not been identified, it was commissioned by someone on behalf of Bayezid Paşa during the period between 1413 and 1421 when he served as grand vizier. The building underwent repairs in 1546, 1583 and 1853 and survived until 1934; after that year it fell into ruin with only a part of a façade wall remaining standing, and houses were built on its sold land.
Within the works initiated by Bursa Metropolitan Municipality in 2012, the buildings constructed on the madrasa’s land were demolished. Restoration and reconstruction works began in 2014. After the completion of the works, the building was opened in December 2016 as an education and culture center.
Location and architecture
Located in Hocataşkın Neighborhood of the Yıldırım district of Bursa, opposite Bayezid Paşa Mosque, the madrasa consists of a classroom and 11 rooms.
