Sarıhan Caravanserai, located within the borders of Nevşehir on the Aksaray-Kayseri route that provides the east-west connection on the Silk Road, lies in the Damsa valley, 5 km southeast of the district of Avanos and 6 km north of Ürgüp. Built in 1249 during the time of II. İzzeddin Keykavus (perhaps by him), Sarıhan covers an area of 2000 m².

At Sarıhan, tuff stones commonly found in the Cappadocia region were used as building material. The upper parts of the inn, which had collapsed in places, were restored in 1991 and returned to their original state. After Sarıhan, which is one of the last examples of sultan inns built by the Anatolian Seljuk Sultans, the sultans did not construct any more caravanserais.
