Latifiye Medresesi

Latifiye Medresesi is a historic madrasa located in the Sur district of Diyarbakır.

History and architecture

The construction date of Latifiye Medresesi, which is situated within the Kurşunlu Mosque complex, is unknown. The madrasa, whose walls are faced with black basalt stones, has two iwans. This building, used as a madrasa in the 19th century, was also used as a mosque for a period. After being abandoned for a long time, the building was restored in 2004 and began to be used as the SHÇEK Women and Children Education Center.
