Zeyniler Mosque
This mosque in Bursa began in 1449 as a small masjid endowed by the merchant Hodja Ramazan for Sheikh Abdullatif Kudsi Efendi, a leading figure of the Zeyniyye Sufi order founded by Zeyneddin Hafi; the structure's name preserves that order's connection to the site. Abdullatif Efendi was buried in an upper section of the building after his death in 1452. The masjid was upgraded to a full congregational mosque in 1568, when a senior judiciary official, Muallimzade Ahmed Şemseddin, added a minbar for Friday prayers. Its prayer hall and attached portico for latecomers follow a rectangular plan with a low gabled facade typical of Bursa's early Ottoman neighborhood mosques. The building has been repaired repeatedly over the centuries, with recorded renovations in 1475, 1600, 1679, 1745, 1761, and 1957, reflecting its continuous use as a neighborhood place of worship.
