Mücelliddin Mosque
Also known locally as the Hoca Musliddin Mosque or the Mahkeme (Courthouse) Mosque, this Bursa mosque is tied to a specific devotional tradition rather than to a single founder's monument. In 1888 a woman named Safiye Hatun established an endowment to maintain the practice of reciting the Miraciye at the mosque on the night of Miraç, the annual commemoration of the Prophet Muhammad's night journey and ascension; the Miraciye is a form of devotional verse describing that event. By the time Safiye Hatun's foundation formalized the custom, the recitation had already been performed at this mosque for 128 years, after which the practice spread from Mücelliddin Mosque to other mosques across Bursa. The mosque is thus remembered less for its architecture than for having served as the original home of a citywide religious literary tradition.
