Hacı Seyfettin Mosque
Hacı Seyfettin Mosque is a small early Ottoman neighborhood mosque in Bursa's old Tahtakale quarter, traditionally dated to the 15th century and attributed to a local patron known as Başçı Hacı Seyfettin, during the reign of Mehmed the Conqueror. After falling into disrepair, it was rebuilt around 1487 by a benefactor remembered as Mevlana Hayrettin. The mosque has a modest rectangular prayer hall of roughly 6.75 by 6.75 meters, fronted by a shallow portico for latecomers about four meters deep. Its gabled facade is distinguished by two large pointed arches, an unusual treatment for Bursa's mosque architecture. The original timber-roofed covering installed in the 1487 rebuilding was later replaced with a dome during a 1962 restoration carried out according to the building's earlier plan. The structure reportedly escaped serious damage in the major 1855 Bursa earthquake, so much of its historic fabric is considered original.
